Pinterest Picks for April

It's the third of April so it's time for my favorite monthly linky for ideas and inspiration. Many thanks to Lisa from Pawsitively Teaching, Marissa from Inspired Owl's Corner, and Ashley from Just Reed for hosting this fantastic linky on the 3rd day of every month.

Here are my top 3 Pinterest Picks for April....

Using plastic eggs as writing prompts.

I love this idea from In Fifth Grade with Teacher Julia. This would be a great way to start the morning. Students could choose an egg as a writing prompt for morning work. A basket of plastic eggs could also be added to the writing center and used as writing prompts.

Great ideas and activities for group activities for morning meetings

Do you use Responsive Classroom?  Second Grade Stories has great group activities for morning meeting. My students LOVE playing four corners and we are going to try "Mumball" next week.

These are adorable and a great way for students to write about ways they can help protect our earth.

Isn't this bulletin board the cutest? I love it!

This is just a photo on Pinterest without a link.
I love this apple craft. It's super simple with strips of paper and a brad.  It would make a great measuring activity too!

This is adorable. After seeing it on Pinterest, I bought it and I really have loved doing it with my class.

Pinterest Picks

How in the world is it July already? Summer is just zipping by it seems.  I'm getting ready to celebrate the 4th with my family and I'm also thinking about my classroom and the school year ahead.

I'm thrilled to be linking up with Lisa from Pawsitively Learning and Marissa from Inspired Owl's Corner to share our top Pinterest picks this month.

I adore Americana décor.  There are a lot of adorable patriotic themed pins on Pinterest.  This one is my favorite from the group of pins above (from A Night Owl Blog).

I have been rolling around in the head how I am going to decorate my bulletin boards for back to school. I love this one below! It would be a long standing bulletin board and I would change change out the pictures of the students as well as the hashtag depending on the time of year or theme we are working on.

This video would be a great springboard for discussion on the first day of school.

Pinterest Picks

I'm very excited to be participating in this super fun Pinterest Pick 3 linky with my dear friends Lisa from Pawsitively Teaching and Marissa from The Inspired Owl's Corner!

Here are my top 3 Pinterest Pins for December:

I love these patterns for making gingerbread houses from lunch paper bags by teachwithme.com.  We do a "gingerbread activity day" each year and this would be fun!  My students LOVE to color!  You do need to register with teachwithme.com to get these patterns.  I did it and it's very easy and free!

How adorable is this guy? Well....you can teach your students how to make one too with the easy peesy step by step drawing directions from Artventurous.  Love it!

Do you have paint chips laying around?  These are darling!  They are worth the trip to the hardware store, aren't they.  Thanks Bargain Hoot for the great idea!  What teacher doesn't love a bargain?!

What did we ever do before Pinterest?  Do you have some favorite Pinterest picks for this month?  We'd love if you would link up with us!

Happy Holidays!

What's Inspiring You?

I'm linking up with Covered in Glitter and Glue for

and Mrs. Plemons Kindergarten for

I find this concept pretty intriguing.  I do call the students to the rug at the end of the day to talk about what we learned that day.  This would be taking it another step further by actually writing it down.  Click on the picture to get this freebie.

How cool are these rice bags?

I think they would be great for "word work" where the students could use the letters to make words or words could be added to the rice bag that they find and write.  Click on the picture to get directions on how to make it!

My district is beginning to shift from a Daily 5 reading model to Balanced Literacy.  This anchor chart and lesson would be a great introductory lesson.

What's inspiring you?  I always love hearing your comments.
